About Hrayr Attarian


Hrayr was born in Beirut Lebanon and grew up with jazz music in the house. He has been hearing jazz since childhood and has become a self-trained aficionado by listening to over 1500 jazz recordings and reading about 50 critical works on jazz. He also contributes CD reviews and articles to All About Jazz, Jazziz, Chicago Jazz Magazine and Downbeat. He continues to expand his musical horizons by catching live shows and expanding his personal music library. Since moving to the US in 1992 he has lived in different parts of the country. Currently he is a practicing neurologist and lives in Chicago with his wife, their parrots and their cats.
