About David Manson

David Manson is a composer, trombonist and improvisor. He is a recipient of two Artist Fellowships in music composition from the Florida Arts Council, a Fulbright-Hays project in Turkey, featured artists in the Southern Arts Federation’s JazzSouth radio program, and has received awards from ASCAP and Meet The Composer. David is director of the EMIT series, an adventurous music nonprofit organization with programming awards from Chamber Music America, ASCAP and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with 17 years of presenting.

David has composed for and performed with Sam Rivers in modern jazz group Fluid Motion and in Zappa repertoire band Bogus Pomp. He currently works with Brazilian jazz sextet O Som Do Jazz and the Helios Jazz Orchestra.

His recordings include "Particle Zoo", "Fluid Motion", "Visions", "Beast", "Infinita Bossa" and "A Kiss for Rio". David's degrees include a doctorate from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He teaches music technology and jazz courses in the MIRA (Music Industry/Recording Arts) program at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
