About Sarah Collyer

Contemporary vocalist, songwriter and voice coach
Sarah Collyer is an accomplished singer/songwriter and musician who has performed throughout Australia and Japan. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music, with honours in jazz voice from James Cook University (Aus) and a Master of Music Studies in jazz voice and vocal pedagogy from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (AUS). Songs from Sarah’s first EP "This Way" are played on radio stations and cafes throughout Australia and Sarah also works as a voice coach and performer, performing regularly both as a solo artist and with her band, performing originals, jazz standards and covers.

Sarah studied classical technique from the late Margaret Nickson, before exploring jazz voice with Australia’s jazz diva Katrina Ryan (E Type Jazz). At the Queensland Conservatorium, Sarah studied under the expert guidance of contemporary voice guru Irene Bartlett, jazz and gospel singer Sharny Russell and classical voice pedagogue Adele Nisbet. Upon completion of her Master of Music Studies, Sarah was awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence, which was awarded to the top 5% of students in 2006. Continuing to hone her vocal skills, in 2008, Sarah traveled to London for intensive vocal training with Gillyanne Kayes, author of “Singing and The Actor”.

Over the past ten years, Sarah has performed and recorded with a wide variety of musicians throughout Australia. 2009 saw the release of Sarah’s debut EP This Way – featuring 7 Collyer originals blending jazz blues and rnb styles.
Songs from Sarah’s debut original recording This Way are currently played on radio stations and cafes throughout Australia.
2012 saw the release of Sarah's first album "Yesterday's Blues".
