About Jonathan Sindelman
Jonathan Sindelman is a northwest-based musician and composer, and thrives as a contributing jazz writer to The Examiner (via Seattle Music Insider). Also well known for his contributions throughout progressive rock circles as an accomplished keyboardist/programmer, he currently works with the Seattle-based White (Alan White of Yes, John Lennon, Plastic Ono Band), and is also a founding member of the Yes tribute band Parallels. Originally from Los Angeles, Jonathan is self-taught on piano, writing songs from the age of 5, and later an early demo of original compositions caught the attention of University of Oregon. Studying by day, Jonathan attended another university by night – the jazz club. It was under the tutelage of the many masters who passed through which led not only to performance and touring opportunities, but also cultivated an ever-expanding repertoire and a library of recordings to show for endless hours of devoted listening. This voracious pursuit for learning and growth eventually led to the writing and production of a weekly jazz radio program called “On the Elements”, airing on KWVA, FM (Eugene) from 1999-2001, which included live broadcasts, interviews, and coverage of a wide range of events, including Seattle’s own Earshot Jazz Festival.
