Joseph Vella has spent the past two decades as an innovative force in the digital music space focusing on the creation of interactive marketing strategies, audio and video production, podcasting and content development. He ventured into the digital world in 1991 with the creation of Jazz Online, one of the internet’s earliest music sites and the first targeting the jazz audience. With this groundbreaking enterprise, Vella formed his company, Vella Interactive, and he was called upon to advise a wide range of record companies and high profile musical artists to develop their earliest online properties. In addition, he orchestrated many digital music industry firsts including the implementation of exclusive web specific content to click to purchase e-commerce solutions to the production of the first live jazz concert webcast using early wireless technology. In addition, he pioneered early online radio and video channels as well as several trend setting podcast series featuring The Beach Boys, John Coltrane and Yo-Yo Ma. Along with his work as a digital consultant, content producer and strategist, Vella has also developed and oversees the music focused entities jazzonline.com and boomitude.com. In addition, he regularly teaches master classes at NYU Jazz and Studies Department.
