About "Less Q" Butler Jr.
In the entertainment/music world he is simply referred to as “Less Q” as an entrepreneur he formed cutting Edge Management in 1990-present.
Among the musical protégés signed with his company: Jazz artist/ musician Quincy Stewart III. Rap artist Ganja, R&B/Hip Hop artist Jeremiah, just to name a few.
Less Q was born in Chicago, IL.
Being a gifted child that he was, he began singing in musical and acting in plays at age 6. When 10 years of age came around he was already playing the clarinet, Piano, and writing poetry. His love for music lead him looking up to various mentors like Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Michael Jackson, Frankie Beverly and Maze, and Stevie Wonder.
Less Q's passion for the entertainment business would fueled on throughout his teenage years and led him to Metro High School of the arts where he studied theater, dance, drama,music and street law. At Loyola University,street law and English.
Arriving on the Detroit scene in 1984 he continued to lay groundwork for his professional career he attended Oakland University. LessQ studied: Business , Theater, and Music.
Professionally he entered the music scene in 1990, since then he has become a member of Naras (The National Academy of Arts and Science), ASCAP publishing, National American Musician Federation Union and Local Federation of Musicians. Less Q has had bands perform at Pine Knob, Meadow Brook Hall for the jazz greats Najee, Stanley Clark, Billy Cob ham to name a few. Switzerland Montrox Jazz, Detroit Montrox Jazz, United States Olympics 1994 World Cup soccer Games. He has worked with George Clinton and The P-Funk All Stars, Bernard Terry, Kevin Holliver, Keith “Bubby” Webb, Spud-FM 102.7 Detroit, ICP, 2 Live Crew, China Man Records, Black Lagoon, and a host of other major record executives and celebrities.
