About Signe Crawford

Signe Crawford is a private music teacher, teaching clarinet, sax, and flute in Port Angeles, Wa. She performs professionally in various groups on the Olympic Peninsula.

She also enjoys writing, and has published in collaboration with Craig Buhler on KEYS TO MUSIC. Her new love is creative writing, and if you ask her, she'll allow you to read some of her work on Facebook.

Signe has just started giving two exciting lectures:

The first one is called STRESS-FREE, EFFECTIVE PRACTICING". She asks her host (usually a band director) to find her a piece of grade 5 music she hasn't seen. Then she practices it for her audience, explaining her methodology as she goes. She then guides an audience member through the process. Throughout it, she will interject fascinating tidbits about the brain/music connection.

Her second lecture is HOW TO LEARN YOUR MAJOR SCALES IN 45 MINUTES. The only prerequisite is that the attendees know their chromatic scale, and they understand enharmonics.

Signe enjoys playing lead alto sax in the Olympic Express Big Band. She also does lots of small ensemble work.
