About Rosemarie LaRose

I heard my 1st bit of jazz in Germany, in 1959. I had a small radio with a wire antenna that had to be hung out the window for reception. About 11 pm one evening, after my early-rising military Dad & Mom were asleep, I strained to hear the faint notes from a trumpet, playing music I'd never heard or even imagined existed. It faded in & out as I struggled to adjust the dial so I could hear the name of either the song or who was playing it. Maybe I could buy the record, I thought, and Papa would allow me to play it on our combination radio/record player. My God, it was so beautiful! To no avail. All my efforts that night failed miserably. I was very frustrated as I tried to fall asleep that night.
