About Jaleel Shaw
Alto saxophonist Jaleel Shaw is presently a member of the Roy Haynes Quartet, Mingus Big Band, and his own Quartet and Trio. Jaleel grew up in Philadelphia, PA and picked up the alto saxophone when he was nine years old. He began studying Jazz at the age of 11. After high school, Shaw attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a dual degree in Music Education and Performance. After Berklee, he received his Masters in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
Jaleel has two recordings as a leader – “Perspective” (2005) and “Optimism” (2008).
