About The Melting Pot Drum Group The Melting Pot Drum Group
The concept of drum groups is not a new one but this group has a history of recording harmonic, simulated quartet, quintet, sextet and larger formats and playing music without the horns, piano and bass that is traditional in a Jazz Group Setting. Instead, composer/performer and drummer Steve Habib becomes the timpani or bass player using timpani and floor toms to replicate a walking bass and also chord structures. Other players in the group are Thomas DeSteno and many others too numerous to mention here but all well known major Jazz Performers. Officially, CD's have not yet been released and the music has been compsed and documented since 2000.
