Age 64-Retired Bassist. Hans worked 25 years in music with two US Navy bands and small groups as well. Hans has played rockabilly, western swing, rock and jazz. Hans became disabled with a rare auto-immune disease in 1979 but continued playing until 1990 or so when a series of four spinal surgeries followed with the last one in 2011. Hans still has three basses which are an acoustic bass guitar which is undergoing defretting as he writes this, a Fender P Bass and an Ibanez fretless bass. Hans has been practising several years to regain his chops and work on original music. Hans plays tournament Chess and loves his wife, daughter and four adorable cats. Music has saved Hans' life more than once because of it's healing power. His main inspirations musically are Duke Ellington, Johnny Hodges, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Billie Holiday, Ben Webster, Ray Brown, Sarah Vaughan, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard and Rachmaninov among countless others. Warmest regards to all from the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
