About Steve Bellamy

Producer/engineer Steve Bellamy is the founder of Addo Records and a specialist in jazz and classical music recording. Artists he has worked with include Dave Douglas, Steve Swallow, Chet Doxas, Jim Doxas, Donny McCaslin, John Stetch, Kirk MacDonald, Tom Harrell, Ted Quinlan, Dafnis Prieto, Brian Dickinson, Jerry Bergonzi, Mike Downes, Anton Kuerti, Isabel Bayrakdarian, James Ehnes, the Gryphon Trio, Tafelmusik, and Edgar Meyer.

Bellamy founded Addo Records in Toronto in 2009. In its first five years it released 27 titles and garnered 7 JUNO Award nominations and 1 JUNO win. Addo Records is distributed internationally by Conveyor Canada through Universal Music Canada, Distribution 13 (USA), and Planetworks (UK, Europe, Asia).

After studying saxophone at the University of Prince Edward Island, Steve Bellamy went on to complete the prestigious Master of Music degree in sound recording from McGill University, where he studied with George Massenburg, Steve Epstein, and Wieslaw Woszczyk. Since then he has produced and engineered many jazz and classical recordings, and held teaching positions at McGill University, The Jackie MacLean Institute at the University of Hartford, The Banff Centre, and Humber College. He is currently associate dean for the School of Creative & Performing Arts at Humber College in Toronto.
