About Steve Bellamy

Recording engineer Steve Bellamy has been fortunate to work with many great musicians including Donny McCaslin, John Stetch, Kirk MacDonald, Ted Quinlan, Brian Dickinson, Chet Doxas, Jim Doxas, Dave Douglas, Kieran Overs, Mike Downes, Anton Kuerti, Isabel Bayrakdarian, James Ehnes, the Gryphon Trio, Tafelmusik, Kenny Wheeler, Joe Lovano, Greg Osby, Edgar Meyer, Sheila Jordan, and many others. He has engineered more than 150 commercial CD recordings of jazz and classical music, several of which have received awards and nominations.

In 2009 he founded Addo Records - a small, progressive jazz music label in Toronto.

Steve Bellamy studied saxophone and music education with Karem Simon and Betty-Anne Younker at the University of Prince Edward Island. He later received his Master of Music degree from McGill University where he studied sound recording with Wieslaw Woszczyk, Steve Epstein, and George Massenburg. Since then he has produced and engineered many jazz and classical recordings, and held teaching positions at McGill University, The Jackie MacLean Institute at the University of Hartford, The Banff Centre, and Humber College. He is currently Humber’s Associate Dean of Creative & Performing Arts.
