With a Song in My Heart
John Pizzarelli

New Orleans may lay claim to Harry Connick Jr., but New Jersey has its own singing hunk in the form of singer and guitarist John Pizzarelli. Never one to shy away from a well-crafted concept album, Pizzarelli took his inspiration this time from the music...

Here and Gone
David Sanborn

David Sanborn has had a career most horn players would kill for. Catapulted from sideman to superstar in the mid-1970s, Sanborn has always made crowd-pleasing music while managing to escape the scorn heaped on fellow smooth saxophonists by the jazz cognoscenti...

Tenor Talk
Jerry Bergonzi

There is no doubt that Jerry Bergonzi is a technically gifted player. He can tackle even the most complex chord changes at blistering tempos, raining down notes in Coltrane-ish sheets of sound. He has a full, strong tone that softens to a burnished hue on...

About Jessica Webster Sendra

Userpic-6977-100x100_thumb

Jessica has been a jazz fan for most of her life. As a teen, she spent all her babysitting money on jazz records and concert tickets, and read decades-old back issues of jazz magazines and Leonard Feather's Encyclopedia of Jazz instead of doing homework.

Jessica spent her early career in the jazz retail world; first at Schoolkids' Records in Ann Arbor, and then as the national jazz buyer for the Borders chain.

Jessica also hosts a weekly jazz radio show on WEMU-FM.
