Amina Figarova Dinner Concert
Mount Vernon Country Club Celebrates Women in Jazz!
Internationally renowned pianist/composer Amina Figarova brings her sextet to Mount Vernon on Wednesday, March 6th. The pianist, originally from Baku, Azerbaijan is touring with her bandmates, all Europeans from the Netherlands and Belgium. She is touring her 12th recording, Twelve. The CD celebrates jazz as an international music and especially New York City as a vibrant locale where jazz gypsies may feel most at home.
Amina’s husband and music partner, flautist Bart Platteau, collaborated with her on the CD with new compositions inspired by their move in 2011 from their European base to New York. This group has toured extensively and has graced the stages of Newport, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage, Chicago, Paris and Amsterdam. She is joined by her husband on flute, Ernie Hammes, trumpet, Marc Mommas, tenor sax, Jeroen Vierdag, bass and Chris “Buckshot” Strik on drums.
As usual a delicious buffet dinner will precede the concert beginning at 6:00 pm. The concert will start at 8:00 pm. The price for dinner and concert is $45.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Concert only seating is available for $20.00.
