Vocalists and Musicians pay homage to Von Freeman in Chicago
Oct 10th at the Jazz Showcase
Chicago pianist Willie Pickens and vocalist Solitaire Miles will pay tribute to the late saxophonist Von Freeman at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago on Wednesday Oct 10th at 8 pm. Both Pickens and Miles worked and recorded with Freeman, and will be remembering him with a cast of many vocalists and players who loved Von and worked with him over the years including trumpeter Brad Goode, saxophonist Eric Schneider, bassist Larry Kohut, and drummer Robert Shy. They will be joined by vocalists Joanie Pallatto, Jennifer Graham, Catherine Whitney and Margaret Murphy Webb, Betty Reynolds, Dorothy Lyles and Charlotte Foster . They will be performing 2 sets at 8 and 10 pm, and Miles will be auctioning a print of her original painting of Freeman, to benefit the Freeman family.
Miles and Pickens will also be donating copies of their album recorded with and arranged by Freeman to all who come to the show.
