There are so many options when looking for an RV that suits your needs. The moment you start looking, lots of terms get thrown at you. Names and classifications can be confusing. Kirkland RV Sales can help you make sense of it all. Below are some common terms used when referring to RVs. This is just one way Kirkland RV Sales wants educate you on the basics of RVs so that you can make the right purchase for you and your family.
Class A Motorhomes
Generally the largest class of motorhome whose newer models tend to be more attractive and aerodynamic than older ones. Lots of amenity options with these big guys: flat screen tvs, laundry rooms, and air conditioning are among them. Class A’s are built for long-term trips, and are powerful enough to tow a toy trailer or small car.
Class B Motorhomes
These are the smallest of the motorhome family. They are often built on to a standard van. Due to the small size, they are not recommended for long-term use. They are super easy to drive, inexpensive, and accommodating. Class B’s on the larger, more costly end of the spectrum may even include a toilet and shower.
Class C Motorhomes
Class C’s are built on a traditional commercial van chassis. These are both economic and flexible. Slide-outs and larger headroom mean more places for sleeping and storing. You sort of get the best of both the A and B motorhomes with this class.
These are hitched to the back of a large truck or towing vehicle. Midrange travel trailers are between 18-25 feet long. Given all of the amenities this type of RV is even considered by some as a seasonal or full-time living trailer.
Fifth Wheels are made specifically for pick-up trucks to tow, and is quite popular with hobby RVers. They have a lot more living space and easy to tow. Due to the way the trailer is hitched, it is not as prone to fish-tailing and jack-knifing as other towing trailers. Like it Travel Trailer, it is very popular in the US.
