The loveable dog you brought home from the pound seems to be more troublesome than you could have imagined. With some basic training, you can teach your dog to act better quicker.
Do not punish your dog when you are training him. Instead, focus on preventing unwanted behavior. If your dog misbehaves, you should try to demonstrate the preferred action. Training should be a positive experience that helps to build trust, and a closer relationship between you and your dog.
There are some ways you can help your dog with separation anxiety through effective training. If your dog barks constantly or destroys things while you are away, he is probably suffering from separation anxiety. You can train this behavior out of your dog, and teach him the proper activities for when you are not home. Make sure as well that you give your dog lots of love to ease the anxiety.
If hiring an animal behavior professional is something you are considering, make sure to learn as much about them as you can. Professional dog trainers have different methods of training, so you need to be sure that you are both in agreement as to which method is suitable for your dog.
Never try to train a dog while you're short on patience. If you've had a bad day or are unusually short-tempered for some other reason today, it's better to put off training until another day. If you do not give your dog patience they will not pay attention to your efforts.
It is not good for a puppy to train too often, it will wear it out if it has to process too much information. A puppy's attention span is short and it has a limited amount of energy, so sessions should remain short and positive. If you try to rush and throw in too much information, your puppy will not remember the lesson and you'll have a harder time training him.
If you are more irritable than normal, you may need to reschedule your training session to another time to avoid losing your patience with your dog. You must give your dog patience while training him, or he will feel stressed and not be able to stay focused, and your training time will be wasted.
Have several different treats available as rewards for your dog so he doesn't get bored. Get treats that your dog will want more than the normal treats they get every day. These unique treats will make them more eager to perform well in training.
As was already stated, many dogs are trained for many different reasons. Dogs are very well known for how much they wish to please those around them, which makes having one trained in that manner a good dog to be around. Hopefully this article has given you some ideas that will make it easier to train your four-legged friend.
