Dinner Concert at Mount Vernon Country Club
Thursday, September 22nd; 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Mount Vernon Country Club will present a Big Band Lionel Hampton tribute on Thursday, September 22nd. The Celebration of Lionel Hampton is a phenomenal ensemble created by producer, Jacey Falk that features Hampton orchestra alumni and admirers of the Hampton songbook.
Vocalist Diane Schuur, Jason Marsalis, vibes, Red Holloway, saxophone and pianist Sharp Radway are all on the same stage as one unit to celebrate the music of a true "Jazz Icon" along with some of Denver's finest jazz musicians that will round out the band. Hampton fronted some of the greatest big bands in the history of the music and on the 22nd, you will hear those great sounds. Schuur is a two time Grammy winner and has performed with such notables as Quincy Jones, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, B.B. King and Count Basie. Jason Marsalis comes with a Jazz pedigree that is all too well known. He originally started out on drums and more recently has found his voice in the vibraphone. He'll be fronting the band on vibes in the Hampton role. Red Holloway spent a number of years in the various Lionel Hampton bands and at 84 years young brings the history of the music to the band stand along having spent years with music giants from Clark Terry to Aretha Franklin. Pianist, Sharp Radway is one of the most in demand players in the business. He has also been featured in film and on Broadway in acting roles. It is a rare occasion to see such an all star extravaganza. This show will bedazzle any audience, so make your reservations now!
As usual a delicious buffet dinner will precede the concert beginning at 6:00 p.m. The concert will start at 8:00 p.m. The price for dinner and concert is $49.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Concert only seating is available for $18.00.
