Electric violinist Ken Ford and saxophonist Euge Groove, aka Steve Grove and formerly sax man for Tower of Power, played to an appreciative crowd Saturday in Charlotte, N.C, at CPCC’s Halton Theater.
Both Ford and Groove arrived in Charlotte with either pending or recent releases. Ford’s “State of Mind” will be available August 16, and Groove’s “S7ven Large” was released in May.
The concert was the second in a series of four in the third-annual Carolina Jazz Concert Series, which is growing in popularity in the Queen City. The next show, scheduled for October, will feature Norman Brown. The final show in the series will feature David Benoit in December.
