The Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest was a hit for the second year in a row. The festival, which is in its second year, added a second day for jazz fans in the Queen City and organizers moved the music inside into The Fillmore with headliner Michael Franks, Marcus Johnson, and local musicians Shableek and Uncommon Jazz.
The music moved outside Saturday to Time Warner Cable: Uptown Amphitheatre. Jeff Lorber Fusion kicked off in the late afternoon and was followed by jazz supergroup DMS, George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn. Gerald Albright closed the evening.
