Summer has certainly given way to autumn - at least in my neck of the woods - so I thought I'd try to capture the feeling in the air with an ‘Autumn Serenade' . . . the perfect soundtrack for fall romance or sitting in front of a wood fire on a crisp chilly evening.
James Carter establishes the mood with his bluesy orchestral rendition of Indian Summer, followed by Cannonball Adderley & Miles Davis interpreting the colorful Autumn Leaves, and John Coltrane also provides an Autumn Serenade on sax while Johnny Hartman sings.
Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong can't stop talking about Autumn in New York, and neither can Bill Charlap . . . Joe Lovano establishes the atmosphere of Early Autumn which puts us in the mood to attend a Fall Festival with Ken & Harry Watters. After the festival we kick back and listen to the Latin flavored Lullaby of the Leaves from Evans & Coppola . . . and I leave you with a reflection of winter to come When October Goes sung by Diane Schuur.
I hope the cool, crisp sound and euphoric feeling of autumn fills your heart and soul and provides you with an extremely pleasant hour of listening enjoyment. Enjoy the ride!
