CHICK COREA AT CARAMOOR; LIVE, SOLO, AND UNPLUGGED
October 3, 2009, 8:00 PM in Katonah, NY
Caramoor International Music Festival, an established summer music destination in Westchester County for over 65 years, has long been revered for its breathtaking gardens, eclectic summer festival programming, and impressive rosters of both musical legends and prodigies. With headliners like Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Eddie Palmiere, and Cedar Walton (to name only a few), sold out performances have become a frequent occasion for Caramoor's annual weekend jazz festival held every August as the finale of the summer season.
Yet this year, music continues to flow throughout the gardens of Caramoor as the autumn leaves begin to turn. This weekend, Caramoor launches its very first Fall Festival, which will open October 2 with the New York Philharmonic and celebrated pianist Emanuel Ax, and close October 4 with soprano Sumi Jo in recital.
On the evening of Saturday October 3, Chick Corea will perform a solo concert on piano in Caramoor's Venetian Theater. Widely considered one of today's most prolific composers and performers, Chick has touched an astonishing number of musical bases in his illustrious career while maintaining a standard of excellence that is simply uncanny. Throughout the years, he’s seen immense success with his numerous jazz collaborations, from ‘Return to Forever’ to the ‘Chick Corea Elektric Band’ – and most recently, the ‘Five Peace Band’ – therefore making solo acoustic concerts such as this an extraordinary occasion for the artist.
Tickets for ‘An Evening with Chick Corea’ are $15, $20, $35, $50 and $70. All tickets may be purchased online at www.caramoor.org or by calling the Box Office at 914.252.1252.
