Jamal Muhammad of WPFW-FM, Washington, D.C.'s jazz station, presents The Carolina Jazz Connection with Larry Reni Thomas, August 25, 2009, from 3pm to 6pm. The program, hosted by veteran jazz host and historian Muhammad, will include music from native North Carolina personalities, including John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach and Nina Simone. It will also feature music from other artists, such as Woody Shaw, Billy Taylor, Tina Brooks and other North Carolina-born musicans and will also feature an exclusive interview of North Carolina native, Helen Morgan, wife of trumpet legend Lee Morgan and the lady who shot him, at a young age and at the prime of his career. A CD of the interview is available as a part of a fundraising effort at WPFW-FM. The special is scheduled to last three hours (3pm--6pm) and will include special guests, including Larry Reni Thomas, who conducted the interview with Helen Morgan.
