Their 2012 followup, 'Music Inside' continues in the same spirit that Papik has become known for, jazzcentric tunes with catchy arrangements and sunny optimism. Singer Alan Scaffardi again joins Nerio Poggi and crew for an album that ranges from Nicola Conte style grooves, retro-sounding 60's cafe jazz along with cheerful Burt Bacharach influenced pop. 'Music Inside' also includes contributions from vocalist and labelmate Ely Bruna, Paco Di Maso, Clizia Aloisi, and US singer Wendi D. Lewis singing a cover of Mary J. Blige's 'Family Affair'.
'Music Inside' is a great listen from beginning to end with an assortment of tempos and lyrics that are inspirational and positive. The first single, 'Puzzle of Life' featuring Ely Bruna, has a tight backbeat and brassy horn section. 'Somewhere' is a ballad of unrequited love, with lush orchestration reminiscent of Antonio Carlos Jobim, sung poignantly by German/Dutch singer Dagmar Segbers. The Poggi/Bruna composition 'Sign Of Your Love', sung here by Alan Scaffardi, has been recorded by UK singer Jason Donovan and is featured as the title song on his latest jazz vocal comeback project.
'Music Inside' is sure to be a favorite among fans of Papik and Nerio Poggi and has great potential to gain new fans worldwide. They already have a loyal following in Japan, selling out their recent Tokyo Blue Note concert along with having the song 'Puzzle of Life' featured in an ad campaign for a Japanese fashion line.
Congratulations to Urban Unrest on his first review for J.S.M (Jazz Syndicate Management and Promotions)
