Contrary to Brian Landrus previous recording, this album is more of a collective project. Of course Landrus is the leader but he allows plenty of space for everyone to shines on these collection of outsatnding compositions. Especially Nir Felder on guitar and Michael Cain on piano.
Landrus is a master of bass instruments, baritone sax, bass flute, bass flute. The tone of these instruments gives Landrus music an elegant and sophisticated sound, at the same time crisp and engaging.
Landrus compositions are always interesting, borrowing from different music form like reggae, "Like the wind", soul "I Promise", and rock "71 and on the road".
Striped Phase, Like the wind, Beauty, I Promise, Capsule, 71 and on the road, Wide Sky, Now
Brian Landrus - baritone sax, bass clarinet, bass flute, Michael Cain - rhodes, piano, electric bass, Nir Felder - guitar, Matthew Parrish - bass, Rudy Royston - drums
