The music on Ryan Davidson trio debut album is hard to classify. It has a western kind of country music feel, understandable due to Ryan Davidson experience with many country music artists. Even the Monk classic "Rouns Midnight" receive an interesting country-like treatment.
But this is certainly not country music, at least not entirely. One can also hear elements of rock music in Davidson music, "Out of nowhere", "Conditional" and "Texas Oracle".
Of course there is some jazz. Davidson has a Masters in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. Half of the compostions are originals by Ryan Davidson, including one of the jazzier tracks on the release "Captain Positive".
