CD Review: Eddie Daniels/Roger Kellaway - Live at The Library of Congress
Clarinetist Eddie Daniels and pianist Roger Kellaway are the kind of musicians with the exceptional ability to cross from classical to jazz. In fact this album recorded live at the Library of Congress feels at times like a classical music recital.
Both, Daniels and Kellaway, are master musicians, always playing with emotional and technical intensity, and sometimes even a sense of humor. Their improvisations are richly inventive and unexpected in their content.
Even though the album includes excelent interpretations of well recognized compositions, Gershwin "Strike up the band", and Monk "Rhythn-a-ning". Some of the highlights of the album are the originals "Capriccio Twilight" and "50 state rambler" by Kellaway.
Eddie Daniels - clarinet, Roger Kellaway - piano
Strike up the band, Capriccio Twilight, Somewhere, Rhythm-a-ning, America the beautiful, Etude of a woman, Pretty Women, Just friends, A place that you want to call home, 50 state rambler
