TAEKO CELEBRATES HER CD RELEASE IN HARTFORD
Beatnik-Entertainment presents The Japanese Songbird, Taeko Fukao known to audiences throughout the world as “Taeko,” as she celebrates the release of her latest CD “VOICE.” Japanese born Jazz Diva Taeko has performed in New York City’s top jazz clubs, including Blue Note, Kitano, and Zinc Bar, as well as jazz festivals throughout the United States. She will be making a special appearance in Hartford, CT. at Masala, 391 Main St., before her Japan tour this fall. Taeko reveals her bebop chops on the arrangement of Thelonious Monk’s “I Mean You,” and on “Inner City Blues” a favorite among jazz instrumentalists, but surprisingly few vocalists. Taeko’s emotional take “Inner City Blues,” Marvin Gaye’s soul classic is both poignant and telling. Join her on September 24, 2010, 8:00pm for a very special night of music in Connecticut.
“Taeko is a singer of uncommon originality with a voice all her own; one that has been aptly described as a gentle breeze with hurricane potential…bearing touches of her many influences, from Ella Fitzgerald, to Anita Baker, while remaining distinctly herself…” described Russ Musto.
