I was saddened to learn that Patti Wicks passed away. I met Patti a few years ago at the Village Vanguard when she played piano for Carol Slone's birthday celebration. As the host of WGBH's Jazz Gallery Show on radio, I spoke with Patti to congratulate her on one of her recordings. She was a warm and wonderfully talented artist and I wish I could play her music on the air again. RIP Patti, your music continues.
Iola Brubeck I met breifly at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA and I always admired her work as a lyricist for Dave's compositions.
I am not surprised that she joins Dave so soon after his passing. May she RIP as well.
