Jim Hartog Quintet
Time and The City
Planet X

As the title suggests, Time And The City is an urbane and utterly tuneful collection of mostly originals inspired by time and space. Hartog's burnished velvety approach to the baritone enlivens these compositions with restrained passion, sparkling imagination, and mellow wit. The musical affair pretty much stays within the limits of contemporary bebop, except for Hartog's bracing solo reading of "Autumn In New York," which finds him pushing the Tin Pan Alley classic in the realm of free jazz.
