Bugs
Both Feet In It
Ubiquity Jazz

Bugs' Both feet in it (Ubiquity, URCD023, 47:21) is a tasty bite of dreamy modern dance pop, another example of why EPs are often a whole lot more fun than full length releases. There are only four actual tunes here-the lead cut "Wrapped Up" gets five separate treatments here, Morcheeba's re-mix leans heavy on drowsy atmosphere, Terra Diva's vocals stretching out taffy style over the hazy backdrop. Jamie Myerson, on the other hand, drops some cold ice in the production's drawers, coming up with a popcorning, junglist re-make, while the "Bugs Re-Rub" whips up a tasty analog synth-lined version that sounds like Bernie Worrell gone to Bristol. Comparing the remixes can cause you to overlook the disc's real gem, "Filed Under X," a semi-dub-synth workout with a jackhammer breakbeat backing.
