Craig Taborn, Rez Abbasi, Others to Perform Benefit for NYC Music School

Fundraiser will take place Thursday through Sunday

The Sound It Out 1st Anniversary Hot House Festival and Fundraiser for Greenwich House Music School will take place this Thursday, July 18, through Sunday July 21. The event celebrates the first year of the Sound It Out concert series at New York City’s Greenwich House, and raises funds for the music school.

Among the artists who will perform at the series are Craig Taborn,. Rez Abasi, Dave King, Chris Speed, Michael Formanek, Mat Maneri and several others. The full schedule is below.

During the festival, the Greenwich House Music School will also host an art show by Stephen Byram, designer of classic album covers from the Beastie Boys to Tim Berne (and creator of the Sound It Out logo and 1st Anniversary Hot House Festival poster).

Tickets are $20 per night, available at the door; all profits will go to help fund the activities of the Greenwich House Music School.

9:15 pm: Drummer Joe Hertenstein's Futuredrone w/ bassist Ken Filiano, violist Mat Maneri and pianist Anthony Coleman

Friday, July 19:
7:30 pm: prelude: pianist Taka Kigawa
7:45 pm: Drummer Devin Gray, guitarist Jonathan Goldberger and bassist Michael Formanek
8:45 pm: Endangered Blood (w/ Chris Speed and Oscar Noriega on reeds, drummer Jim Black and bassist Michael Formanek)

Saturday, July 20:

7:45 pm: Saxophonist Michael Attias and drummer Satoshi Takeishi
8:45 pm: Surface to Air (w/ guitarist Jonathan Goldberger, bassist Jonti Siman and tabla player Rohin Khemani)

Sunday, July 21:
7:30 pm: Piano duo of Craig Taborn and Gust Burns
8:30 pm: Rez Abbasi Trio w/ guitarist Rez Abassi,
bassist John Hébert and drummer Satoshi Takeishi
