Kansas City vocalist Angela Hagenbach possesses an extraordinary range, excellent phrasing and a singular style. On her second solo issue, she's pure velvet on "Something Cool" and "Love for Sale," delightfully whimsical on Dave Frishberg's "Peel Me a Grape," and vividly intense on Dori Caymmi's "Obsession" and Sergio Mendes' "So Many Stars." She also wrote the title track and "Retrato Em Branco E Preto (Portrait in Black and White)," sung in Portuguese. Angela Hagenbach proves she can do it all.
