Ross Tompkins
Ross Tompkins Celebrates the Music of Jule Styne
Progressive

Former Tonight Show pianist Ross Tompkins is inventive, lithe and totally swinging on a dozen timeless charts from Jule Styne's incredible 1,500-song career that fed Hollywood musicals of the '40s and contributed a large chunk of modern repertories. Every tune is a micro-concert of Tompkins' musical wit, including upbeat tunes like "Sunday," "Time After Time," "Just in Time" and "Saturday Night (Is the Loneliest Night in the Week)" and the tenderly rendered "I Fall in Love Too Easily" and "I Don't Want to Walk Without You" (expanded by "I've Heard That Song Before"). Styne and Tompkins are the perfect team.
