Lenny White to Participate in Live ‘Before & After’ in D.C.
D.C. event to be hosted by journalist/broadcaster Willard Jenkins
Lenny White, the veteran drummer best known for his work in Return to Forever with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Al Di Meola, will participate in a live “Before & After” session this Thursday, June 6, in Washington, D.C. The event takes place at 5:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Live, 1400 F Street, NW.
“Before & After” is one of JazzTimes’ most popular and longest-running print and online features. In this listening exercise, the magazine’s host plays a recording for a notable artist. That artist, with no prior knowledge of what’s being played, provides his or her initial reactions to the music and attempts to name the performer and tune. After some discussion, the pertinent information is presented and additional commentary follows.
The one-hour, free B&A session with White will be hosted by D.C.-based jazz journalist and radio personality Willard Jenkins. White will perform with Nicholas Payton XXX as part of the D.C. Jazz Festival. following this event, at 7:30 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets.
