The Outsider
Savant
This is Argentine Tarres' fourth release and he continues to pursue a very personal musical vision; art music that encompasses tango, jazz, classical, South American folk elements and literary influences. The closing tune, "Quietude," is named for a poem by Jorge Luis Borges. On "Astor's Place," composer Donny McCaslin's anguished saxophone evokes tango master Astor Piazzolla. Pianist Danilo Perez guests on "Alfonsina y el Mar," an Argentine standard made famous by Mercedes Sosa.
