Bossabrasil Festival Featuring Dori Caymmi Coming to Birdland
Brazilian artist’s show will be tribute to his father, Dorival Caymmi
The Bossabrasil Festival, now in its eighth year, will return to New York’s Birdland May 14-18 with Brazilian composer, arranger and guitarist Dori Caymmi. The multiple Grammy-winner will perform a tribute to the Caymmi family, particularly his late father, singer, songwriter and actor Dorival Caymmi.
Dori Caymmi has composed, arranged and performed with artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Dionne Warwick, Gilberto Gil and Sarah Vaughan. He will perform Some of his well-known compositions as well as selections from his new CD Music and Poetry.
Dori Caymmi’s special guest will be Joyce, a Brazilian musician/guitarist. They will be joined by Tutty Moreno on drums with Rodolfo Stroeter on bass and Dario Eskenazi on piano.
