Danny Moss Meets Buddha's Gamblers
A Swingin' Affair
Nagel-Heyer

To combine the many virtues of huge-toned, swinging British tenorman Danny Moss, a Hawkins man of more than a few summers, with the mainstream Swiss septet, Buddha's Gamblers, was an inspired judgment in which producers Sabine and Hans Nagel-Heyer may justly take pride. Long the pride of England and Australia, where he now resides, Moss deserves far more recognition in America than he has hitherto received, a state of affairs surely to be rectified by this release. The 11 tracks upon which he alternately stomps and seduces with admirable virility and unfaltering invention are, without exception, deeply rooted in swing tradition, while the Gamblers, heretofore an unknown quantity, are commendable for the work of trumpeter Heinz Bubler, trombonist Hans Meier, clarinetist Werner Keller, pianist Buddha Scheidegger, guitarist Peter Schmidli, bassist Vinzenz Kummer and drummer Carlo Capello.
