Christian McBride will lead music and discussions

Jazz House Kids, the New Jersey-based institution that provides jazz instruction and mentoring to children, will present its sixth annual Inside the Jazz Note event on May 22. The lineup for this year’s event features bassist Christian McBride, who serves as Jazz House Kids’ Artistic Chair, hosting an evening of conversation and music with saxophonist Jimmy Heath, trumpeter Jon Faddis, pianist Cedar Walton, and drummer Louis Hayes. The evening will also feature the Jazz House Big Band, directed by Julius Tolentino.

The program is divided into two events: an afternoon master class for hundreds of high school band and choral students and their teachers from across the state (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.); and, in the evening (7:30 pm), a one-on-one conversation and concert open to the public.

For more information about the afternoon master class for students and schools, visit Inside the Jazz Note Master Class.
