Arabesque Recordings
Singer/flautist/songwriter/composer Wilson has built a very solid book and a very solid band, anchored here by the redoubtable Alex Blake on bass and the ever-superb George Cables on piano. Altoist Bobby Watson and flugelhornist Stanton Davis put in guest appearances, augmenting the leader's tuneful flute. Wilson's signing is sometimes a bit over the top, but wrings everything out of her lyrics. Ther is much to enjoy here.
