Rondi Charleston to Perform Tonight at Joe’s Pub
Singer’s NYC gig will promote new album, ‘Signs of Life’
Singer-songwriter Rondi Charleston will perform tonight (Feb. 28) at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan. The 7 p.m. performance will introduce songs from Charleston’s new album, Signs of Life (Motéma Music), which is being released March 11. The CD follows her 2011 Motéma debut, Who Knows Where the Time Goes. The album includes a bonus track, “The Cave Knows,” co-written with pianist Fred Hersch. According to a press release, “It was created for and inspired by the remarkable story of hope, determination and survival told in the new, award-winning documentary film, No Place on Earth, a riveting true story of 38 Ukrainian Jews who survived World War II by living in underground caves for 18 months.”
Charleston’s band for the Joe’s Pub gig includes Brandon McCune—piano, Ed Howard—bass, Tim Horner—drums, Mayra Casales—percussion, and guitarist/musical director Dave Stryker.
