John Hollenbeck to Release ‘Songs I Like a Lot’ Next Month

Drummer covers tunes by Ornette Coleman, Jimmy Webb, Queen and more

John Hollenbeck will release his next album, Songs I Like a Lot (Sunnyside), Jan. 29. The album features the drummer accompanied by vocalists Theo Bleckmann and Kate McGarry, pianist Gary Versace and the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. The album features interpretations of songs by a wide variety of composers including Ornette Coeman, Jimmy Webb, Queen and Imogen Heap, as well as the traditional Appalachian ballad “Man of Constant Sorrow.”
