Marcus Roberts to Release New Recording of ‘Deep in the Shed’

Nonet will revisit pianist's classic 1990 work

Pianist Marcus Roberts will release a newly recorded reimagination of his 1990 album Deep in the Shed. Roberts’ second album as a leader, the original was recorded while Roberts was still a member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet, and was the subject of a series of retrospective concerts in 2008.

The new version will be released Nov. 13 on Roberts’ own J-Master label. It was recorded with a nonet including Roberts’ trio members Rodney Jordan (bass) and Jason Marsalis (drums). The complete lineup and track listing follow:
