Rod Stewart Christmas Special Features Duets with Botti, Shorty and…Ella?
Pop singer will perform a “virtual” collaboration with the late jazz icon
Rod Stewart, whose several albums of Great American Songbook standards were best-sellers, will present his first Christmas TV special on Nov. 26 on PBS stations. According to a press release, Stewart will be joined on the program, titled Rod Stewart: Merry Christmas, Baby, by such guests as Chris Botti, Trombone Shorty, Mary J. Blige, Michael Buble and the late Ella Fitzgerald. The so-called “virtual” duet with the iconic Fitzgerald will be on the song “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” The TV special is a companion piece to Stewart’s holiday album, also titled Merry Christmas, Baby.
