JALC to Host ‘The Best of Blue Note Festival’ Nov. 13-18

Artists will perform music from Blue Note label icons

Jazz at Lincoln Center will present The Best of Blue Note Festival from Nov. 13-18. Taking place at Frederick P. Rose Hal’s Rose Theater, the program will feature Music Directors Vincent Gardner and Sherman Irby leading the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing repertoire from the Blue Note label, including Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Lee Morgan. Ryan Kisor and JD Allen will be featured soloists.

Michael Mwenso and selected Blue-Note-loving musicians will discuss and play recordings that span the prolific legacy of Blue Note Records. Free and open to the public.

• Joe Henderson's 75th Birthday featuring Renee Rosnes, Chris Potter, Bobby Hutcherson, and more
November 16-17, 2012, 7:30pm & 9:30pm, The Allen Room
Musical director Renee Rosnes on piano, Bobby Hutcherson on vibraphone, Jeremy Pelt on trumpet, Robert Hurst on bass, drum giant Lewis Nash and trombonist-arranger Michael Dease.
Free pre-concert festival featuring tastings by Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola nightly at 6:30pm
Ticket prices for The Allen Room are $65 for the 7:30pm sets and $10 or $55 for the 9:30pm sets.

Ticket prices for Rose Theater are $10, $30, $50, $75, $95 or $120 dependent upon seating section.

• Blue Note Celebration featuring Lou Donaldson
November 13-18, 2012, 7:30pm & 9:30pm, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola
Saxophonist Lou Donaldson will be accompanied by the Hammond B-3 organist Pat Bianchi, guitarist Randy Johnston, and drummer Fukishi Tainaka.

Tickets: Tickets for Rose Theater and The Allen Room can be purchased through jalc.org or CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 10am to 9pm. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor. Box Office hours: Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain) and Sunday from noon to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain).

Note: Hot Seats, $10 seats for each Rose Theater performance (excluding Jazz for Young People® concerts and other performances as specified) and select 9:30pm performances in The Allen Room (excluding Jazz & Popular Song concerts), are available for purchase to the general public on the Wednesday prior to each performance.
