The opening act will celebrate and bring the focus back to Seattle, with a tribute to Clarence Acox by the Garfield High School Band, accompanied by special guests.

Earshot Jazz, a non-profit jazz-support and presenting organization, organized the event, which will also incorporate educational programs and panels; a film series; and a variety of other events like Human Spirit’s CD release celebrating a recording from last year’s festival, and the Seattle Times’ writer and Earshot co-founder Paul de Barros’ release of his recently published book, Shall We Play That One Together?: The Life and Art of Jazz Piano Legend Marian McPartland.

The three-week-long festival will encompass 50 distinctive concert events hosted by more than a dozen venues around the city. A detailed listing of performances is available at Earshot.
