Garth Fagan and Wynton Marsalis Reunite for ‘Lighthouse/ Lightning Rod’
Program to be presented at BAM
Choreographer Garth Fagan and trumpeter/composer Wynton Marsalis will premiere a new collaborative work, Lighthouse/Lightning Rod, their first since their BAM debut more than 20 years ago, at Brooklyn’s BAM from Sept. 27-30. The pair will also reprise material from their first work, Griot New York.
Lighthouse/Lightning Rod is set to an original score by Marsalis and will be performed by the Wynton Marsalis Septet: Dan Nimmer, piano; Reginald Veal, bass; Ali Jackson, drums; Victor Goines, saxophone, clarinet; Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, alto saxophone; and Eliot Mason, trombone, in addition to Marsalis. The shows take place at BAM Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Ave., between St. Felix Street and Ashland Place) in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn.
