Darcy James Argue Recording New Album

Followup to big band’s ‘Infernal Machines’

Darcy James Argue and his 18-piece big band Secret Society are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their highly acclaimed, Grammy-nominated debut, Infernal Machines (New Amsterdam Records). The sessions, funded in part by a successful Kickstarter campaign, will document the complete original score from Brooklyn Babylon, the group’s multimedia collaboration with graphic artist Daniel Zezelj.

Premiered last November over the course of four nights at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s 2011 Next Wave Festival, the new work, according to a press release, “is set in a future Brooklyn where plans are in place to construct the world’s tallest tower in the heart of the city. The central character is Lev Bezdomni, a master carpenter who finds himself torn between ambition and devotion to the neighborhood he loves when he is commissioned to build the carousel that will crown the Tower of Brooklyn.”
