Chick Corea and Gary Burton to Release New Duets Album

‘Hot House’ set for release Sept. 4 on Concord Jazz

Chick Corea and Gary Burton will release a new collaborative album, Hot House, Sept. 4, on Concord Jazz. The new duets project from the pianist and vibraphonist, who first played together 40 years ago, is described in a press release as “a collection of 10 songs that draws from the work of some of their favorite composers from the 1940s through the 1960s.”

The tracks include Art Tatum’s “Can’t We Be Friends” and the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” Two Antonio Carlos Jobim tunes, “Chega de Saudade” and “Once I Loved,” are performed, as are Bill Evans’ “Time Remembered” and “Strange Meadow Lark,” from Dave Brubeck’s Time Out. Other tracks include the Tadd Dameron-penned title track, Thelonious Monk’s “Light Blue” and Corea’s “Mozart Goes Dancing.”
