Ravi Coltrane Announces Extensive Tour

U.S. and foreign dates are in support of Blue Note debut, ‘Spirit Fiction’

Saxophonist and composer Ravi Coltrane will launch a tour May 29 in support of Spirit Fiction, his debut recording for Blue Note Records, which will be released on June 19. The album was produced by his label mate and fellow saxophonist Joe Lovano and features two different band lineups. Several tracks feature Coltrane’s regular quartet with pianist Luis Perdomo, bassist Drew Gress and drummer E.J. Strickland. Coltrane also enlisted a quintet featuring trumpeter Ralph Alessi, pianist Geri Allen, bassist James Genus and drummer Eric Harland.

The tour previews at Birdland in New York City from May 29-June 2, then continues in late June with two nights at Bohemian Caverns in Washington, D.C. The full schedule is below.
